[ARRL-ODV:7563] Re: N1MZA - SK

I am very saddened by the news of Steve's passing. Being a newcomer to the Board family I did not have the pleasure of knowing Steve well, but I was able to meet him at the January board meeting, and was very impressed by his humor, and his always ready smile, even with his health problems. I can see why he was so close to everyone. I wish I had known him better. Tuck W5JBP@aol.com wrote:
It is with deep sadness that I report to you that Steve Mansfield, N1MZA became a silent key at 4:00 P. M. today. Ellen his wife was with him at the time.
I shall remember his wit, and enthusiasm when we worked together in Washington. He was a true D. C. "Junkie" as he liked to say. He always liked to point out to me, the various "people that are in Washington" and tell me a little about each. One night in particular, Allen Greenspan came in to the restaurant and sat at the table next to ours. You could clearly see that Steve was excited and that he loved his job.
We shall miss him.
