[ARRL-ODV:9776] Re: Fwd: FW: Wireless Bureau reorganized

Jim, I don't think we should be either happy or unhappy. The reorganization wasn't driven by anything having to do with us. If you want to be happy you can consider that we might have been shuffled off to an even darker corner of the Bureau. If you want to be unhappy you can consider it as an opportunity missed to get a more dynamic division chief. Now I’m really confused! Should I be happy that regulation of Amateur Radio has been handed over to a modern-day Sgt. Schultz (knows nothing, does nothing, eats everything)? On the surface, this might be good. At least we “should” know that nothing bad is going to happen to Amateur Radio while she is incompetently at her post. This is sort of a “let sleeping dogs lie” situation. This approach also got national laurels heaped on an FDA staffer years ago when she simply fell into a bucket of (roses?) while figuratively sleeping at her desk and failed to process a New Drug Application. The drug that she inadvertently blocked proved to be a strong mutant to developing fetuses and she woke up stunned one day to find she was being touted as a national hero. On the other hand, with I-wana, he-wana, she-wana D’wana truly does nothing, nothing good will happen either. Anyone want to pitch in with me to buy a set of 1940’s soap opera tapes (Ma Perkins, Stella Dallas, Lum and Abner, etc.) to see how the story is going to come out?
