The New England Division convention (Boxboro) went very well this past weekend. Convention chairman (and Vice Dir) K1TWF worked his you-know-what off and things went quite smoothly. Boxboro has a very full set of forums and attendance was excellent at all of them. The Friday night DX dinner had a full house of about 125 people, as did the Saturday night "main" dinner (125 or so). Sunday was fairly quiet but still brought in some new faces. The two ARRL forums were quite lively and all seats were filled. The one on Saturday was all about BPL, as was half of Sunday's. The other topic receiving more than a passing question was about QST content. More technical content and construction articles, they say. Anyhow, one of the things we had at the ARRL booth besides (old) 2004 FD T-shirts were a bunch of "No BPL" stickers. These were real simple looking and after we encouraged a dozen people to put them on their shirt next to their callsign badge, the word spread and "everyone" stopped by because that just had to have one. The were very popular. People want to be involved and to help out. One of the first people to see the No BPL stickers looked like he was gonna have a heart attack until I told him it had nothing to do with the Brass Pounders League. Later one I had to tell someone we were not against the Boston Public Library either. A good weekend. Dealers seemed very happy. Sold about 20 memberships, several multi-year. Didn't sell publications, two vendors had plenty of stock. I have more stickers if anyone has a good use for them. A copy of the graphic is attached. -- Tom ===== e-mail: k1ki@arrl.org ARRL New England Division Director http://www.arrl.org/ Tom Frenaye, K1KI, P O Box J, West Suffield CT 06093 Phone: 860-668-5444
