RE: [arrl-odv:15671] Yaesu VIP Discount

The special discount is a nice gesture by Yaesu. Going beyond the issue Mike raised about it, I wonder what the membership would think if they learned we were receiving "payola" from a manufacturer. This general allegation was lodged against me during my first two campaigns -- the first time the claim was that the Board members received all sorts of favors from equipment makers. Net: I respectfully decline to accept any discount even if it is concluded to meet the ethical requirements of the organization. Jim Weaver, K8JE, Director ARRL Great Lakes Division 5065 Bethany Rd.
