[arrl-odv:25901] IARU Region 2 Band Plan revisions

Greetings — Earlier in the year the ARRL HF Band Planning Committee solicited feedback from the United States amateur radio community regarding needed/desired revisions to the IARU Region 2 Band Plan. The changes the committee agreed were pertinent, after boiling down all input received, were approved by the ARRL board in July for proposal at the Region 2 General Assembly last month. Each of ARRL’s band plan proposals were approved unanimously. Attached to this email is a PDF document I created that provides a summary of each revision made to the Region 2 band plan that was approved by voting delegates of the General Assembly. Many of the changes were made to move the band plan closer to alignment with that of Regions 1 and 3, where appropriate. If you have any questions about revisions to the Region 2 band plan, please ask. A reminder, here in the United States, our use of spectrum (particularly where various modes and emission bandwidths can reside) is regulated by FCC Part 97. Other countries around Region 2 permit their hams to adopt their own use of spectrum and, as such, Region 2’s band plan serves as their model. A hearty thank you to each member of ARRL’s HF Band Planning Committee for their time and contribution to this process, as well as to the Board for its necessary support. 73, Brian N5ZGT
