Recent email about 7Z1AC and DXCC

There has been a small flurry of messages yesterday and today regarding 7Z1AC (at the American Consulate in Jeddah and operated by Joe Musachia, W5FJG). We don't have enough documentation yet to accept 7Z1AC cards for DXCC credit. Some cards were received and entered in the system before the documentation issue came up, but we won't be able to count them for credit unless operating permission is cleared up. We were in contact with the QSL manager (WA4JTK) yesterday about documentation. He didn't really have what we needed, and he decided to get on the Internet and flame us, which resulted in those messages that some of you received. Wayne Mills is now attempting to work directly with W5FJG, rather than WA4JTK. We'll see what he has to say. Historically, it's been very difficult for foreigners to get permission to operate in Saudi Arabia (no reciprocal or CEPT licensing). We understand that there will be some disappointment when an operation does not count for DXCC and we always like to find a way to approve operations. But we have to use some reasonable standards regarding licensing and permissions for a variety of reasons (international relations and good will, as well as DXCC standards). Mark K1RO
