ARRL Board: You will recall the discussion at the July Board meeting, chronicled briefly at Minute 17, of the disappointing level of participation in the most recent two Director/Vice Director elections. As noted in the minutes, steps are being taken to raise the visibility of this year's balloting. The first couple of steps have been taken: In addition to the web and ARRL Letter story posted this week, we were able to fit a list of this year's nominees and a notice that balloting will take place in the Atlantic and Great Lakes Divisions into October QST. Today our election contractor, Survey and Ballot Systems, sent an email to the Full members in the two divisions for whom we have email addresses inviting them to decide how they would like to receive ballot materials. This has the effect of letting members opt into receiving paper ballots. A member who receives a paper ballot can vote either on paper or electronically, but if they do both their vote will only count once. Because this information is being received by Board members who are candidates I am also sharing it with the candidates who are not on ODV. 73, Dave Sumner, K1ZZ
