[arrl-odv:12045] Memberships

We sold six memberships at the Maryland State Convention over the weekend. I decided to look up the membership expiration dates of the three people who were not new members or timely renewals, and I'm glad I did. One person's membership had expired in 1987, and he signed up for two years. Another person, whose membership expired in 2003, also signed up for two years. The third returning member, whose membership expired in 2000, signed up for three years. Three returning members isn't very many people in absolute terms, of course, but when we have some long-lapsed members signing up for multiple-year memberships, it certainly looks like the ARRL is doing some things right. Something persuaded these guys to rejoin the League after lapses of 2, 5, and 18 years. Another nice moment was when a member brought his teen-aged grandson to the booth and bought him a youth-rate membership. 73 - Kay N3KN
