[arrl-odv:23207] Powerpoint Presentation on CC&Rs and H.R. 4969

Greetings. Jim Boehner asked for a copy of the powerpoint presentation that Mike Lisenco and Bill Edgar and I used at Bill's Webinar last week. I should have thought to send it to you before now. It is, for those of you who did not attend the webinar, something of a deep backgrounder on CC&Rs and why we find it necessary to pursue H.R. 4969 so aggressively now. I hope this is useful to you. Feel free to use any part of it that you think necessary at club meetings, etc. No attribution necessary. Any errors are mine and not those of Bill or Mike. 73, Chris W3KD P.S. While I have your attention, TKG and I have revised our SOP for Congressional meetings. In the past, we have held out as a carrot for those who actually agree to cosponsor the Bill an Excel list of names and addresses of hams in the Congressional District. We can give this to Congresspersons because it is publicly available data. I have urged TKG to provide that for* every* meeting, perhaps as a basis for a followup contact with the office to push the cosponsorship request, on the theory that the list doesn't do the Congressperson any good at all unless they DO agree to cosponsor the Bill. So we should dazzle them with the typically large number of hams (and potential votes) in their districts, and make it possible to contact those hams, while the Congresspersons are making the decision whether or not to cosponsor. TKG agreed with this. So, when you do a visit, let Dan Henderson or me know which Congressional District in which state you are visiting and we will e-mail you immediately the Excel file to provide at the appropriate time. And remember to please let them know the raw number of hams in the districts per the list we have circulated to you. If you need that list again, we will e-mail it to you. -- Christopher D.
