RE: [arrl-odv:15511] A&F Minutes - April 14, 2007

Kay and Tom: If the data being relied upon is AHØA (is that the right call?) keep in mind that data includes the offset of the ten year old tech licenses that came up for renewal and weren't renewed. My impression from having participated in three VE sessions since early March has been that from 50% to 60% of the examinees have been sitting for the tech license and passing. I asked what the ARRL VEC experience was and understood near one-half was typical. Of course the best source would be to ask Maria Somma directly. 73, Jay, KØQB -----Original Message----- From: Kay Craigie [mailto:n3kn@verizon.net] Sent: Tuesday, May 01, 2007 7:17 AM To: arrl-odv Subject: RE: [arrl-odv:15511] A&F Minutes - April 14, 2007 Thanks for the Minutes, Tom. Am I premature in being concerned by the numbers showing that so far, dropping the code requirement hasn't resulted in an increase in new licensees? If an upturn doesn't turn up, we have a problem. We have hung a lot of hats on that hook. If I'm jumping the gun, when would it be reasonable to expect to see an effect of the requirement change on the number of newcomers? 73 - Kay N3KN
