At one time early in my life, I thought I had a handle on the meaning of the word "service"... the act of doing things for other people. Over the intervening years I heard these terms: Banking Service Broadcast Radio/TV Service Civil Service Customer Support Service Diplomatic Service Elected/Appointed Public (City/County/State/Federal) Service Internal Revenue Service Investment Advice and Service Magazine/Newspaper Service Sales Department Service Service Stations U.S. Postal Service Utility (Gas/Electric/Sewer/Telephone/Water) Service I became confused about the word "service." This is not what I thought "service" meant. Then, one day, I overheard two farmers talking and one of them mentioned that he was having a bull over to "service" a few of his cows. SHAZAM!! It all came into perspective. Now I understand what all these "service" agencies, companies, and government units are doing to us.
