[arrl-odv:27286] Interesting Article

Thanks for flagging that, Jim. I had accompanied Mark Crosby and about 20 other LMCC members to a meeting with Rosemary Harold, the Enforcement Bureau Chief to discuss the importation of illegal radios, mostly from China, including Baofeng and Wouxun radios that have no certfication at all; are preprogrammed to use public safety and other B/ILC Part 90 channels but which are touted as being "amateur radio" equipment and which are not marketed to radio amateurs but instead to the general public via E-Bay and Amazon. they are typically portables that have no SAR or MPE test for RF exposure as required by FCC rules and they are in widespread use in Amateur and Part 90 and Broadcast Auxiliary bands on an unlicensed basis. Good to see that some good has come of this, since Rosemary Harold had lots of reasons why EB couldn't do anything about this, or even talk to the Justice Department about the fact that these radios are being "dumped" on the American market. 73, Chris W3KD On Wed, Jun 13, 2018 at 2:43 PM, Northwestern Division Director < nwdvd@comcast.net> wrote:
