[arrl-odv:13143] Re: January Meeting

Anyplace more centrally located works better for those of us who are not located in the Northeast. For those of us who still work, it's especially hard on our time off when we must take all-day Thursday as a vacation day for travel on top of all-day Friday for the meeting. I can get to more centrally located cities like Dallas or Denver without losing a whole day. I also recognize the flip-side of that because staff members who normally do not have to travel would then have to do so. The cost difference may not be as high as you think however, because I've never found any deals going into Hartford, but I know I can get significantly lower fares going to cities such as Dallas. -- Andy Oppel, N6AJO At 06:09 AM 10/5/2005, you wrote:
It is time to consider the location of the January board meeting. For the last two years we have not been fortunate from the weather standpoint. Last January 21 of us were stranded for an extra day due to the airport being closed. I have not discussed this with Barry Shelley, but a guess would be that the cost was in the area of an extra 5K.
I know that many of you like to harass the staff, but another location that is not so prone to snow and cold weather (Dallas) might be something you want to consider.
What are your thoughts?
