[arrl-odv:19693] Website running on new system; CPM begins

Jon Bloom reports that the ARRL website is now running on the new system at Rackspace. Performance should be substantially improved. Here in Geneva the two-week Conference Preparatory Meeting for WRC-12 has begun. Discussion of the technical analyses of the amateur MF allocation issue will begin later this afternoon. Ken Pulfer, VE3PU has been designated chairman of Sub-Working Group 2d, which will be handling the issue. At the first meeting of this SWG this afternoon, it is expected that Brennan Price, N4QX will be designated Secretary. The issue, Agenda Item 1.23 (one of some 30 items on the WRC-12 agenda), is "to consider an allocation of about 15 kHz in parts of the band 415-526.5 kHz to the amateur service on a secondary basis, taking into account the need to protect existing services." The task of the SWG is to review nine pages of text of the draft CPM Report that describes four Methods for addressing the agenda item (including Method D, which is to make no allocation) and the advantages and disadvantages of each. I am participating as the IARU representative this week, to be replaced by Tim Ellam, VE6SH for the second week of the conference. 73, Dave HB9/K1ZZ
