As last year, at the ARRL’s request the FCC again issued permission for amateurs to work cross-band with a station authorized by NTIA that will be aboard the Battleship Iowa on Dec. 6-9. This provides an additional opportunity for operators – especially newer operators – to learn and practice proper cross-band operation techniques. 

A copy of the FCC waiver and the amateur group’s press release are attached FYI.

I want to emphasize that this was possible because the applicant had obtained written permission from the NTIA before we applied to the FCC.  Otherwise it would have been unlikely to obtain FCC approval.
