The PRC suggested adding a 2014 ARRL Handbook to the usual plaque, and that will be done. When the plaque is ready, it will be sent to Director Norton for personal presentation to John. An ARRL member, John is the creator of the TV program "Last Man Standing" which stars Tim Allen. Tim's character is an Amateur, and the program has drawn the attention of a mainstream TV audience to Amateur Radio in a favorable manner. ARRL items, such as award certificates, are displayed in the ham shack on the program. A number of people in the program's crew have earned their Amateur Radio licenses. Publicity about the award will appear in the ARRL's media. To refresh everyone's memory, the award's Terms of Reference are shown below. Recipients of the award do not have to be famous people. Although some recipients like Walter Cronkite have been celebrities, others like Mary Ann Crider and Vic Poor, have been well known within the Amateur community. Still others have been revered in their home states and communities. It's the quality of their character and service rather than the extent of their fame that matters most. 73 - Kay N3KN ====================================== President's Award The ARRL President's Award was created by the Board in July 2003.
