Most Walmart’s do allow overnight camping (subject to local ordinances of course) and yes, that was per Mr. Sam’s directive. We did FD operations at two Walmart’s one year back in the mid 90’s as a club recruiting effort. It worked as we picked up about dozen new members/new hams. Not all stores allow overnight camping, but I’ll bet those that do would allow hams to operate through the night for Field Day as well as these contests.
