Thanks for this.  It has the expected bias of financial markets, comparing competitive trading to a bunch of old guys talking to their friends on the radio.

It is a very basic article and misses the information that in addition to the 20 kW power level, they are requesting a number of established FCC standards (designed to prevent interference) be relaxed specifically for their purposes.  So, what commercial interests use a power level >20 kW other than SW broadcast stations?  It also does not mention the use of EMCOMM within the amateur radio service that would sound a bit more noble to their readership.

I love the drum set and guitar reference, though!  That’s going into my next talk!

    Although there are those amongst us who have opined "The amateur radio community reaction to the SMC proposal is completely disproportional to the risk",  that sentiment is not prevalent amongst our Members.
