THE ULTIMATE FIELD DAY SETUP

Last weekend, ham radio operators across the United States practiced their emergency communications skills by operating from portable locations for a 24-hour period.  Members of the general public who were not licensed hams could even transmit when a GOTA (pronounced GOAT-aah) station was provided at the Field Day site, and the operations were supervised by a licensed ham.

Members of the Fallbrook Amateur Radio Club, not to be outdone by anyone, built on GOTA's success by inventing a GOTA-GO station that provides all the necessities of life in a rugged outdoor setting.  The "armstrong" antenna rotator (see jpeg image below) and the roll-form log sheets drew rave reviews from the beta test operator.
