Dave,

Thank you for the update.  I've been watching CNN in the office with a certain amount of interest (and concern for those of you on the East coast.)

Back in my law enforcement days, I had a Sargent that would end the briefing with the reminder to "Stay smart and be safe.  They don't pay you enough to come home dead." He'd sometimes add "...and you'd better be dead because if you got hurt doing something stupid, that means there'll be a lot of paperwork I'll have to do, and you won't escape my wrath on that one."

Stay safe.

Grant

While Irene is of interest mainly to the Roanoke, Atlantic, Hudson and New England Divisions, I thought you all would want to know that the staff is well prepared to protect the HQ facilities and to maintain our ability to support the field organization over the coming weekend. W1AW will be manned around the clock from Saturday morning to Monday morning. Power outages will be the rule rather than the exception here in Connecticut because of the prevalence of overhead power lines and overhanging trees, but the station can be powered by our diesel generator for as much as a week with the fuel we have on hand while in the HQ building a backup generator will keep the IT systems functioning.

To those of you who also will be riding out the storm, good luck!

73,

Dave K1ZZ
