Pride slays thanksgiving, but a humble mind is the soil out of
which thanks naturally grow. A proud man is seldom a grateful man, for he never
thinks he gets as much as he deserves……Henry Ward Beecher
As the holiday season begins with the tradition of gathering
friends and family around normally plain dinner tables, I want to wish you all a
most blessed and wonderful Thanksgiving. As you assemble, look around and
see the people with you, and remember to thank each one for being in your
life. Be thankful for each and every one of them….be they family or
friends, even if at times there may be elements of conflict or
disagreement.
The core of this hobby that we all participate in is certainly
‘friendship’. Whether in the next City, State or Country, Ham Radio has
breached the barriers of language, culture, religion, race and political
boundaries and ideals. While it has been said that music is the language
of love, Ham Radio is truly the language of friendship.
I am thankful for all of you who are a part of the Worldwide
Ham Radio Community. Because of you, I am spurred on to try new things,
become a better advocate and enjoy life more.
Happy Thanksgiving to you all and may the enthusiasm of Hams
past, present and future, inspire enthusiasm and joy in us and those we
contact. Remember those in your communities who find themselves in less
favorable circumstances, and show them some of our patented
friendship.
