Right before the Board meeting I participated in a Zoom call including League volunteer officials from the affected areas and HQ staff directly involved in the Emergency Management effort. It was a meeting where information, ideas and needs were exchanged.

 

I would hate to see an apparent competing communication facility, even one provided in good faith, conflict with the people working on the front lines and those directly supporting them. It could be confusing and potentially slow down response time. The important people in the process are the volunteers from the affected areas and the HQ staff who support them and there should be one established line of communication which I believe was implemented tonight. I also don’t think it would help the process to have hundreds of non-participants involved in ongoing tactical discussions, particularly if they aren’t in the affected areas. Possibly for post incident reviews that could be used to help the rest of the Field Organization,

 

I will let Paul Gilbert lead the effort and I hope that you or others aren’t offended if he doesn’t take Mr. Marler up on his offer. If we have a need for an expanded functionality, I’m sure Paul will reach out.
