Friday, August 19 is my last day in the office until
Tuesday, September 20.
On Saturday Linda and I plan to operate the 10 GHz
Contest from a couple of hilltops in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. On Sunday
we leave for a slightly delayed 25th anniversary vacation trip to Croatia,
Bosnia, and Montenegro with a short side trip to attend the opening ceremonies
of the IARU Region 1 ARDF Championships in Serbia. (You can gauge Linda's
enthusiasm for microwaves by the fact that we delayed our departure in order to
be able to devote at least one day to the contest.)
At the end of our vacation on September 9 I will
go directly to Davos, Switzerland for the IARU Region 1 Conference,
followed by the IARU Administrative Council meeting in Zurich
September 17-18. Monday the 19th is my travel day home.
The office will know how to reach me in an
emergency, and I will keep as current with email as I can subject to the
availability of Internet cafes. Connectivity from Davos and Zurich should not be
a problem.
Harold, Barry and Mary will keep things humming in
Newington, as they do whether I'm there or not. My principal concern about being
away at this time has to do with the elections in the five divisions, so I
will try to pay particular attention to election issues when I log
on.
