As volunteers, we contribute our time and effort, but it’s important for us to be able to say that all Board members have made a monetary donation. One of the first questions we are often asked when seeking donations, in particular from major donors, is whether all Board members have given. That’s a challenging question to answer when not all of us have given. How can we ask someone to make a donation when we haven’t done so ourselves? We must set an example.
