Greetings,
As Dave mentioned over the weekend, Kim and
I are currently in KH6 on vacation. We'll be returning later this week. At that
time, I'll be taking action on a few items that have been working since the
board meeting. Some of these are:
1. Appointment of the Emergency
Communications Ad-hoc committee
There have been a
number of excellent recommendations
2. Appointment of the VUAC.
We're still waiting
on three divisions to make appointment recommendations
3. Update on Advocacy.
Regarding advocacy, I want to emphasize that
while our recent focus has been on our grassroots effort, our advocacy program
involves a much broader effort. It includes our FCC contact, our
Washington office work and IARU support for ITU/WRC, as well as our
congressional effort. In the coming days you will be receiving more information
about each of these as we coordinate the activities and
plans.
On the congressional front, we'll have the
90 day plan from Chwat I mentioned at the board meeting completed in a few days
and then we can begin coordinating that effort with the Grassroots ad-hoc
committee. Dave has already communicated with each of you on the "35 Letters"
campaign. Thank you for actively moving forward with this effort.
As previously mentioned, the Executive
Committee will be meeting on March 11. The location will be identified later
this week.
First Vice President Craigie will be
directly involved in the EmComm Ad-hoc committee and Vice President Roderick
will be preparing the draft terms of reference for the band planning committee
that will be presented to the EC March 11. IAVP Stafford continues his
involvement in IARU Region II activities and interface with our sister
societies.
