I get inquiries all the time about how to shield battery systems, solar and generators from EMPs and not just from preppers. Most people are thinking nuclear war and not a Carrington type of event. I think in nuclear war I would rather be gone in a flash than have to deal with the effects of radioactive fallout. 

With that said, the increased solar activity is welcome for those of us HF and low VHF enthusiasts, but worrisome for those in the power business. I need not say more.
