October 31, 2010 Dear Fellow Amateurs, I have decided to resign my position as Section manager of the ARRL Western New York section to spend more time with my other interests. Over the past several years I have had less time to devote to Amateur Radio and have not been able to give the section managers position the time it deserves. It has been an honor to be Section Manager for the Western New York section of the ARRL, the National Association for Amateur Radio, for the past 10 years and 10 months. Your support and encouragement are instrumental for the success of the many WNY activities such as supporting public service events, ARES, RACES, Skywarn, hamfests and the fine WNY clubs. WNY is blessed with many fine Amateur Radio operators and organizations. Keep up the good work! This year I attended 9 WNY hamfests, a Skywarn meeting, the Atlantic division cabinet meeting, and various ARES and club meetings. This year alone I have driven over 3000 miles for various Amateur Radio functions. Over the past 11 years I estimate that I have driven more than 40,000 miles as Section Manager. I am proud of the many volunteers in Western New York that have made WNY ARES stronger, and expend so much time and effort volunteering for their communities. The national traffic system in Western New York and in New York State is something for the four New York section managers to be proud of. The WNY Amateur Auxiliary (OO Program) is one of the finest in the country. In Western New York I work with an exceptional group of volunteers that I will miss. To my fellow Atlantic Division Section Managers, I have enjoyed being part of the Atlantic Division cabinet with all of you. I will miss seeing all of you at the cabinet meetings. I hope to see you at the rodeo! Please give your full support to the new section manager. I will still be active on the traffic nets and perhaps operate in the contests more often. I hope to see you all at some of the Western New York hamfests next year. My resignation is effective at 12:01AM on November 1, 2010. Sincerely, Scott W2LC Scott Bauer W2LC 1964 Connors Rd Baldwinsville NY 13027 Tel: 315-638-7551 Email: W2LC@twcny.rr.com
