The reference is to "this portion" of the band. The entire band is 5650-5925. It pertains to the 5850-5925 MHz subband. Finally, the FCC has finalized licensing and service rules for vehicle to roadside intelligent highway systems in "our" 5.8 GHz band. The eventual deployment of DSRC completes the effective loss of this portion of the 5650-5925 MHz band, which has been on the table for quite a few years now.
