Attached is the updated talking points page mentioned a couple of days ago. A copy of the bill as introduced is still not available, which is annoying, but as the kids say, it is what it is. A copy of the bill will be distributed to the ODV as soon as we have it. Also provided to you asap will be a short informational paper you and your members can use to find out how to schedule appointments with Congressmen's offices, if you don't already know. Members are already asking what they can do to help. The attached bullet point page can be distributed to your members as you see fit, with a note that additional information will follow. Because he was mentioned in the news story announcing introduction of the bill, Mike Lisenco has been getting messages from members, some of whom don't live in his Division. I have suggested that he refer those members to their own Directors. We would like to get about 30 co-sponsors as soon as we can. At this time we are not asking for mass form letter mailings. We'll confer with TKG for their views as to whether carpeting the Hill with form letters is a useful thing to do in this case. Please remember that postal mail to Congressional offices is hideously slow because of the need for security screening of each and every item. Members of Congress have on their web sites a way to send an e-mail to the Congressman. If your members want to write to their Congressmen, e-mail is the way, unless we hear differently from TKG. 73 - Kay N3KN
