Hi, Rick,
We’re having good response at hamfests.
I am under the impression that member “mood” and attitude toward the ARRL is at one of the highest points that I can recall. I credit David Minster it proving that the RIGHT CEO can make a difference.
I start every presentation with a brief overview of what the ARRL does and how ALL amateurs benefit from ARRL efforts. I identify non-members and ask why they’re not members. “Cost” says the guy holding a $100 Comet antenna.
During Q&A at Melbourne, FL, (State and Section Convention), this weekend, we had the highest turnout I’ve seen at this event – I counted 31 in the room at the ARRL Forum and overall attendance was down because many roads are still closed
to SW Florida.
The inevitable question about HOA protection arose, and I was able to give information about forthcoming bipartisan letters to the FCC Chair from Senators, encouraging the FCC to address symbol rates as well as HOA issues.
When the letters are not embargoed, this will be great news to our membership and we can use it in our membership drives.
Thanks for your leadership in this area. Continuing erosion of our membership numbers is a bad sign that we’re not capturing new hams.

Subject: [arrl-odv:34157] September Membership Stats
Hi all:
Looking at the September membership totals,
every Division showed a negative number for September compared to a year ago. The highest being -3.9%.
Please, let's work on recruiting new members and renewals for those who have let their membership lapse. Let's get those Division numbers turned around!
73,
Rick - K5UR
