I woke up to the news of the London bombings this morning and we
called
my daughter's home in Littlehampton in West Sussex some 50 miles
south
of London. We were worried about our son-in-law who is in London
a few
times a month. He answered the phone and told us they were all
okay.
Our daughter Megan, usually the stay at home mom, was also okay
but
stuck in London at very posh hotel with a high school friend who is
now
a music executive with Warner. It seems she went up to London to
see
her friend and some old band buddies from Georgia that she has
know
since high school days. After the show in Nottinghham they were
up
until four in the morning with the band and have had very little
sleep.
I spoke to my daughter on a cell phone a few minutes ago. She is
pretty
freaked out and very sleep deprived. She says nothing is moving
in
London. The streets are blocked with abandoned buses. She
estimates
that she and her high school friend will be stuck in the hotel for
at
least another day. The friend was supposed to fly back to NY today
but
there is no way to get to the airport. My comment was. "poor
things."
The band is
