During Jamboree-On-The Air (JOTA) W1AW hosted twelve cub scouts, as well as their parents and troop leaders from Cub Scout Pack 347 in Newington, CT. In addition to
a well-received, hands-on demonstration of “Old Betsy,” the scouts also spoke with a ham in Port Elizabeth South Africa, and a ham in North Carolina. Each scout got a chance to say his name, pack number and rank.
As part of the tour through W1AW, the cub scouts were also shown the “Boe-Bot” used for MAREA experiments http://www.arrl.org/marea.
One of the den mothers was so impressed with the concept that she requested if her Pack may return in early 2016 for a live demonstration of MAREA.
Joe hosted Cub Scout Pack 347. He also updated the web code practice files and their archives. Joe created the W1AW and West Coast 2016 Qualifying Run schedules. He
began culling together the new equipment received that will be used in the ARISS “Go-Kit.”
Scott worked on slow and fast code practice files for the week. He also processed some VUCC applications and certificates.
