I had a local ham report that ARRL did not notify him of his upcoming license expiration. As his expiration was three weeks away, I suggested he phone the ARRL VEC immediately Monday AM. He did and they quickly processed his renewal. Despite the glitch, he did let me know that he was quite pleased with the response.
