Hi Joyce -- If he's out of the office, I think a member might be interested in knowing that fact, for how long, and who to contact in his absence...as opposed to that member sending an email that remains unanswered until he gets back into the office, and possibly getting the impression that it fell in between the cracks or he has no interest. Just my point of view. 73, Brian N5ZGT On Mon, 14 Mar 2011, Joyce Birmingham wrote:
I'm a bit concerned over the Out Of Office Reply messages that Mike Corey has consistently been putting up. I don't think this is the message that we (ARRL) should be sending...."hello, thanks, but no one is home!" or..."oh yeah, I'm not here, but you can contact my Assistant" I'd rather receive nothing!!! I'm sorry if this comes off sarcastically, but I'm concerned. Disasters don't take vacations, and good volunteers are hard to find. This is what is frustrating the hell out of the SEC in NNJ, as well as a few others in the Section. Tell me I'm not the only one! 73, Joyce KA2ANF ARRL - The national association for Amateur Radio?
