Jim, as Doug has mentioned the timetable is rather aggressive. October QST is the first issue that will be available for a job posting in the organization's official journal, so a September 30 cutoff is somewhat early. Even worst case (i.e. someone coming in with little or no background in the ARRL), six months for transition is very generous. There are also budgetary considerations with regard to a special Board meeting and overlapping salaries, including Harold's. Two dates to keep in mind around the week of November 16: the A&F meeting on the 2016 budget plan (among other things) is scheduled for November 14. Ballot counting in contested division elections is November 20.
