For those interested, the US Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation is meeting now to consider bill markups and is steaming their session live online. Go to http://www.commerce.senate.gov/public/
As of this writing, it appears they are on agenda item #2. S. 1685, Amateur Radio Parity Act, is agenda item #5.
Watching the committee discuss and vote on S. 1685 will not only be informative but quite educational. The Senators will reveal which key arguments, points, and counterpoints -- both in favor of and against the Amateur Radio Parity Act -- prevailed and got through all the switchboards, inboxes, and staff members, to the point of resonating and being used in their deliberation. If S. 1685 is marked up, we'll know what positive chords we need to keeping striking as the bill proceeds to the Senate floor. We'll also know what attempts to oppose the bill got into the heads of the committee members, as CAI will likely try to get them into the heads of the full Senate. If the bill's markup does not prevail today due to opposing arguments or concerns, we'll know which opposing arguments or concerns need to be prioritized for addressing or countering as we continue to engage the House.
