I just received my October issue of CQ.  The Zero Bias editorial discusses the consequences of CQ’s initial contest policy regarding Russian and Belarus stations and their reasons for revising the policy.

This revision apparently prompted the letter below from the UARL.

Mike and all,

An earlier letter from the UARL lists ARRL acceptance of QSOs from Crimea; and also what could be construed as political ham radio special event call signs.  Attached FYI.

ODV;

CONFIDENTIAL:

Some of you may have already seen it, but I received the attached letter from a ham friend of mine in the Ukraine this morning, written yesterday to the Editors of CQ from the president of the UARL.  I promised him I would forward it on to the ARRL.

I am certainly not suggesting we take any action on this, other than understanding what the letter contains. None of us know where the situation in Ukraine will end up, but we do need to stay informed.

73;

Mike

Dear Mike!
I am sending you a new letter from UARL to the editors of "CQ Magazine".
The russians are politicizing the airwaves. Something needs to be done about it.
Please repost as much as possible. 73! Petro UW3WF
