In the days just before and just after the EC meeting last weekend, a number of Officers and Directors visited on Capitol Hill. I did 10 visits and also, in the company of Directors Woolweaver and Lisenco and Dave Sumner, had a short meeting with Greg Walden and two members of his subcommittee staff. I hope others who did Hill visits will post to the reflector describing what they did. It was a lot of good outreach. In addition to advocacy for the bill, it was also possible to bring up the issue of FCC rules enforcement. During a hearing with the FCC Commissioners on Thursday, Greg Walden used information we had provided to him to confront Chairman Wheeler about the dubious future of the Enforcement Bureau, and he specifically asked about the lack of progress on the WARFA case. At the end of our meeting, I asked Greg Walden what we (the ARRL) could do to help him help us. He said that continuing the work of educating people on Capitol Hill about Amateur Radio and its importance was key. Through the advocacy for H.R. 1301, we have educated people on the Hill about amateur radio's value, and we've put them on notice that Amateurs live in their districts and are paying attention. Congress will go on Easter recess from March 27 - April 12. This will be an opportunity for members to make appointments to visit local offices, and some Congressmen have town hall type meetings during recesses. Would you please inform members in your Divisions about the recess and encourage them to see about meeting with their Representatives in the districts?
