I think the In-News updating report is great. I find it interesting and helpful in many instances. There is one thing I find lacking in reporting from Staff; however, and In-News may or may not be a viable vehicle for this. If the idea does not fit with In-News or its distribution, I suggest another updating memo preferably to ODV or if necessary to OD.
I find there is on my part a great absence of information on the progress of projects being shepherded by Staff. This would include studies involved our defense against BPL, etc. There are other projects for which the Board, I believe, would benefit by frequent updates. These routine updates, I suggest, should be issued no less frequently than monthly and no more frequently than bi-weekly. They need not be lengthy, but should contain enough frank information to show the Board where the projects stand and where problems are encountered and the status of the problems.
I have experienced the benefit of reports such as I recommend while with the little-known household and drug company that is headquartered in Cincinnati. My observation of this process is that is prevented many issues from dropping into the proverbial crack either because of questions asked from upper management or because the reporter in assembling the report realized the oversight had been made.
I firmly believe that if issuing reports of this type had been ongoing over the past several months, we would have had the results of our BPL test data validation in time to have potential impact on FCC before the NPRM was issued.
For whatever it is worth. Knowing the tendency of the Board to remain mute on the reflector regarding subjects such as this, I do not expect any comments or replies, but if anyone feels sufficiently motivated, I’d readily welcome a dialogue.
