I'm glad we were able to assist. 73 Joel W5ZN -----Original Message----- From: Charles Preston [mailto:charles.preston@mac.com] Sent: Tuesday, May 29, 2007 2:14 PM To: w5zn@arrl.org Subject: Thanks for assistance Today I called the lab number, 860-594-0214 to ask a question about IMD using digital modes with an Icom transceiver. The person I talked to had a professional background in IMD (sorry I didn't write down the name), and was very helpful in answering questions about why I might be seeing a relatively poor BPSK31 IMD figure from my IC-7000, despite my experiments and measurements to determine if this was a real situation or due to some error I was making. It's refreshing to talk to someone with technical expertise, and who is willing to provide solid information on a subject. My concern was both about good practice for transmitted signals and in getting good performance for emergency digital communications during poor ionospheric conditions. Thanks for your service to amateur radio and for choosing excellent staff members.
