This might also be a violation of the State public utility regulations if the state PUC regulates phone service cable carriers. Many do not, but worth noting.  FiOS virtually never gathers or radiates RF given its “RF clean” technology.  On the other hand, Comcast lights up the two-meter band as I drive around town with stray RF which they tell me is customer premises radiating from poor coax networks in the home or apartments and will not take corrective actions.  I suspect we will see more of this nonsense in the future.

I agree that proper contact with the right persons should be tried first, placing assertions in writing as well.

Until we actually speak to, or read something directly from, Comcast this makes absolutely no sense.

Again, folks, this is a COMCAST business issue, "ready shoot aim" and can likely be resolved by speaking with management.

There is no way that this is an overall policy and only speaking to COMCAST will force an actual analysis of the issue rather than what one technician or manager has decided on the ground in the neighborhood.

Is the section manager and the TC/TA involved?  As a TA, I regularly spoke with Utilities and have great local relationships. This is simply an opportunity to make one in this area.

Rod, looks like a possible case for your Committee.

David, sounds like an issue for Zac or Ed in the Lab.

TL;DR - person claims Comcast (Xfinity) came and shut off their internet because they were supposedly causing interference to the cable system.

If true this may be a bad precedent set. But it seems rather vindictive since cutting off internet service won’t solve the interference issues.

My cable company when they were Service Electric had their upstream in the 15 meter band back when it was DOCSIS 2.0. They didn’t experience interference and neither did I. Altice USA has since bought them out.

Is the lab on this already?

I don’t know if Kristen is on this as yet. I’m forwarding this since one of my members here in NNJ seemed concerned.

Thanks

Hey how you doing. I really enjoy your YouTube episodes. Keep it up.

On another note thought I would pass this on. Don’t know Eric but find this to be troublesome

Dear Gang:

Xfinity, our internet provider, showed up at 7:30am this morning, to explain to the XYL that we were being cut off for good because my amateur radio activities had caused wide area outages.  Oddly, these wide area outages did not include my own house.  They told her the antennas themselves--absent any power--were the problem

The last time I was threatened, I installed chokes and opto-isolaters on our shielded ethernet lines, and after being told they use 14Mhz as their carrier frequency, I have stayed off 20m, only using 100w unless I'm in a rare contest.  I asked to speak to a technical guy--they gave me a number which I called, but he never called back.

Any Ideas?  Does anyone have a contact at the ARRL, or know a communications lawyer?  Comcast/Xfinity will be back out here at 2pm Pacific time--I'd appreciate any help.

My XYL depends on an internet connection to work.  Being off the air is unimaginable.

Frantic,
