Fred

Randy is the past director of the CQ WW DX contest. The current contest director is John Dorr K1AR. However, Randy is on the CQWW Contest Committee. My understanding of the committee’s role is to help adjudicate the contest through log checking and to advise on rule changes.

His knowledge and experience would be good on the CAC. His role on the CAC is so far removed from the adjudication of ARRL contests that I personally do not see any conflict with him being on the CAC. He is only 1 of 15 to vote on changes so we would need to convince several others to agree with his ideas to bring about changes.

Subject: [arrl-odv:32420] CAC Appointment

W1UE has retired, and the New England post on the Contest Advisory Committee is vacant, and it falls to me to name a member.

I am thinking about K5ZD, and he is willing. But he also directs the CQ WW DX Contest.

I ask my fellow Board members – should I nominate Randy Thompson, K5ZD, as the New England rep on CAC?
