I have Comcast 1.2Gb Internet service and have no problems either. If I were causing RFI to others’ Internet, turning my Comcast off wouldn’t fix it. It’s illogical. Dumb technologist. Most of those folks have no idea how cable modems work. I doubt that this was a management decision. Tom Karinshak is the VP of service at Comcast in Philly. He’s a West Pointer, a smart customer oriented person. I have been in his office, back when I managed a 7 figure annual spend with them. He’a a quality guy and I’ll bet he has more empathy for amateur radio than his technician in this situation. XFINITY SHUT OFF INTERNET DUE TO HAM ANTENNAS TL;DR - person claims Comcast (Xfinity) came and shut off their internet because they were supposedly causing interference to the cable system. If true this may be a bad precedent set. But it seems rather vindictive since cutting off internet service won’t solve the interference issues. My cable company when they were Service Electric had their upstream in the 15 meter band back when it was DOCSIS 2.0. They didn’t experience interference and neither did I. Altice USA has since bought them out. Is the lab on this already? I don’t know if Kristen is on this as yet. I’m forwarding this since one of my members here in NNJ seemed concerned. Oddly, these wide area outages did not include my own house. They told her the antennas themselves--absent any power--were the problem The last time I was threatened, I installed chokes and opto-isolaters on our shielded ethernet lines, and after being told they use 14Mhz as their carrier frequency, I have stayed off 20m, only using 100w unless I'm in a rare contest. I asked to speak to a technical guy--they gave me a number which I called, but he never called back. Any Ideas? Does anyone have a contact at the ARRL, or know a communications lawyer? Comcast/Xfinity will be back out here at 2pm Pacific time--I'd appreciate any help. My XYL depends on an internet connection to work. Being off the air is unimaginable.
