Good Morning Executive Committee (with cc to the ODV) -- As you know, the Hudson Division has been plagued with malicious interference on our VHF and UHF repeaters for years. We have had no relief from the FCC, despite repeated pleas for remedy made by ARRL to the FCC. All requests for help have consistently fallen on deaf ears. In our most recent visit to Washington on behalf of our H.R. 1301 effort, Chris Imlay W3KD and I had the opportunity to meet with Congressman Peter T. King (R-NY-3) where we discussed this issue. Mr. King, a long time supporter of Amateur Radio and also very concerned about the malicious interference of licensed services, offered to send a letter to FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler on our behalf. In keeping with the instructions of the Board to report to the ad hoc Legislative Advocacy Committee, attached is a copy of the letter. The letter is important to ARRL in more than just asking for help in the Hudson Division. It is an indication that our legislative efforts are building a brand with our legislators. It shows that we can establish relationships with our Representatives that will help us in matters other than one specific Bill. It underscores the importance of maintaining a presence in Washington through both our consultants and our own efforts. And it offers us avenues of redress that, until now, we were unable to access. And, of course, it brings to the forefront the issue of enforcement, or the lack thereof. Perhaps the next venue for legislative activity. 73 de Mike N2YBB - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Mike Lisenco, N2YBB Director, Hudson Division Chairman, ad hoc Legislative Advocacy Committee ARRL - The national association for Amateur Radio™ 917-865-3538 n2ybb@arrl.org From: Mike Lisenco N2YBB Sent: Tuesday, January 19, 2016 9:12 PM To: Woodward, Ryan Cc: Imlay Christopher ; Frank McCarthy "The Keelen Group" ; Rick Roderick K5UR Subject: Re: Letter to FCC Ryan - Thank you so very much for forwarding to us a copy of Congressman King’s letter to Chairman Wheeler. I will be sending this out to all of our members in Long Island (as well as New York City). I can’t begin to tell you how grateful we are for his intervention on our behalf. Please convey our sincere and deepest thanks to Rep. King. Would you please let us know what response he gets from Mr. Wheeler. Thank you.
