Mike,

Prayers and good thoughts to you and Shelley for a good outcome.  The fact that it hasn’t spread is very encouraging news.

Take care.  Rod Stafford

Just an update on my wife Shelley, W7VOX, for the ARRL ODV family . She was diagnosed several weeks ago with a very rare "non-smoker" cancerous tumor about the size of a large walnut which is completely blocking the airway to the middle lobe of her right lung. That has caused that particular lobe to collapse and makes her very prone to pneumonia and a horrible cough.

I've been shuttling her to doctor and testing appointments the last few weeks.  Luckily, Shelley is a retired critical care and lifeflight nurse, so she is working well with the doctors. I just sit there, smile and quietly nod my head.

After all the testing there is actually some good news. Yesterday, the PET scan has shown that the cancer has not spread to any other organs. That is a HUGE relief!  Now we are awaiting a meeting with the surgical team and setting a surgery date, probably for a time within the next few weeks. She will lose some or all of her right lung, but the long term prognosis is actually very good. It's certainly looking better than it did a couple of weeks ago when we first found out about all of this.

Thanks again for all the support. I can't tell you enough what it means to me.
