Chris and I had a chance to talk about lobbying on Thursday afternoon, especially getting members involved. In order to make it as effortless as possible for the members, an idea would to make it possible for members to send emails via arrl.org. We could then include the link in our Division emails for an immediate call to action where the member can send an email with just a couple of clicks.

Basically there would be a webpage that the member goes to (while signed in) that allows the member to generate a “canned” email to their Representative. Their information could be pulled from their member record and inserted into the email.

Enhancements to the idea might include having a text box at the bottom of the “canned” email to allow for the insertion of personalized information from the member.

This would be an especially powerful tool to use BEFORE visits to the Representative’s office. The members in that District could be requested to send a barrage of emails to the Representative’s office, thereby demonstrating the constituent interest in advance of any meeting.
