David & All If 2021 Hamvention occurs, we would be remiss were we not to have a presence. If the stars align and there is a vaccine and/or a demonstrable waning of C19, the pent up demand of the public for travel and "gettin' out of the house" will be impressive, resulting in a reasonably high probabilty of heavy attendance at Dayton. If that occurs, we should be present with the resources to reap the benefits of that turnout. I can't speak for everyone, but as a member of the A&F Committee I can share amongst friends that the official A&F crystal ball is broken. So, unless we wish to return to the ancient financial practice of casting bones, we will have to use our collective judgment. Personally, I have always found it easier and less financially stressful to not spend that which I have budgeted, than to have to scramble to find the shekels to cover that for which I had not planned. My recommendation is to "plan for the full boat." Doing that will provide a more realistic financial picture of the far country than not doing so. If we are planning on attending Hamvention, we should consider what other hamfests worth attending may also arise from hibernation and to plan for the cost of sending troops to those outposts. _______________________________________ John Robert Stratton N5AUS Director West Gulf Division Office:512-445-6262 Cell:512-426-2028 P.O. As we are now going through the 2021 budgeting and planning process, we’ll need to take some kind of a view as to what our presence there will look like.
Budget and plan for the full boat, and make adjustments if and when dictated by the circumstances.
Thoughts?
