I just wanted to send some POSITIVE news from the Jupiter-Tequesta ARC.
Under the leadership of AG4BV, they produce more new hams in the SE Division than any other groups outside scouting – and these are typically adults, many of whom will participate in ARES and volunteer.
He uses ARRL books and ARRL VEC exclusively, requiring his students to come to the first class with the ARRL License Manual.
I get one of these every few weeks or so, as Bert and his team teach another class!
Yes, I’ve approached Bert for a volunteer appointment – his reply is that he is too busy!
Bert runs an AC repair business and I hear him on the air almost every day as he travels from job to job.
I thought all of us would like to see that the efforts of HQ are being extended by people like Bert, who is using ARRL marketing and training to become the “Big Dog” in Palm Beach County to train amateurs. The quality of training results
in a high pass rate, and successful students leave the class knowing how to get on the air – they pop up on local repeaters with brand new callsigns regularly.
AC4BV has been nominated for the Herb Brier Instructor of the Year award. I sent an endorsement to PSC members, but I thought we could all appreciate this volunteer!
