The spectrum for auction that Commissioner O’Rielly is referring to is above 3.5 GHz, not this.  But his comments do reflect the current mood at all political levels and across party lines that more spectrum is needed and as fast as possible to “beat the Chinese” in deploying 5G “mobile Internet everywhere”, and that 3 - 8 GHz is the preferred place to be for 5G.  Some over at the Pentagon are pulling their hair out over this, because even the White House is singing this tune . . . .

 

Obviously we will be working on this.  In the meantime, I want to note that this proceeding has not been published in the Federal Register yet, so comment deadlines have not been established.  It is likely that the first deadline will be sometime in February.

By the way, according to Commissioner O-Rielly's comments in the document, it appears the auction date for this band will be in June to late 2020. Get your bidding paddles ready! ;-)
