Diane Petrilli reports that a series of holiday-themed membership email solicitations have returned some new members. Additional solicitations are planned, targeting lapsed members and
“never member” ARRL Volunteer Examiners. Diane is also working with Diane Szlachetka to update graphics used in appeals to prospective members in 2014.
Over 2,000 personalized hardcover ARRL Centennial Edition Handbooks were shipped to members and customers from the ARRL warehouse and printer during the week. This was the last
large batch of books shipped as part of this publication project. We’ll continue to offer the soft cover edition throughout the New Year.
Jackie Ferreira reports that we’ve turned our attention to promoting the next 2 ARRL Centennial titles: A History of QST; Volume 1: Amateur Radio Technology and Volume 2: Advertising.
The books were edited by Ward Silver, N0AX (Volume 1) and Joe Veras, K9OCO (Volume 2), and include the largest amount of reproduced QST content in printed form. Both volumes cover the years 1915 to 2013. The books will begin shipping in January.

W1AW
Joe updated the W1AW and West Coast Qualifying Run web schedules. He processed two Qualifying Run certificates and two endorsements. Joe continued with construction of an EAD Boe-Bot that will be used at W1AW
for demonstration purposes. (The Boe-Bot is used as part of the Educational & Technology Program.) He processed regular QSL card requests. Joe also had to recreate the “W1AW QSL Processing Status” web page since the original page became corrupted.
Field Organization/Public Service Team
Leona Adams prepared documents for the 2014 Section Manager election in Virginia. Ballots and candidate statements for Carl Clements, W4CAC, and Anthony Harbour, KG4YXP, were printed and delivered to the Mailroom
at Headquarters.
Chuck Skolaut compiled and sent out the monthly Official Observer summary to all OOs, OOCs, and Section Managers. Questions dealt with this week included antenna restrictions, operating overseas, advanced class
privileges, making computer recordings, and 23 cm operation. We have received one nomination for the International Humanitarian Award.
Steve Ewald completed editorial work on the Field Organization Reports for February QST, and 2013 Simulated Emergency Test reports continue to be submitted. SET participants have until early February
to turn in their 2013 reports.
